ROUND 1 RESULTS - September 2007

Thank you for playing in the Contest Center's WORD WELTER
puzzle contest.
There were
7 Round 1 entries,
2 Round 2 entries and
2 Round 3 entries
for the September 2007 puzzles.

Since half of the players win, there are
3 Round 1 winners,
1 Round 2 winner and
1 Round 3 winner
for a total of $130.

Total prizes paid in Word Welter is now $1,530.

All winners will receive forms asking if they
wish to continue to the next round.
The forms are enclosed with each monthly mailing.
Winners who wish to risk their prizes and continue to the following
round must sign and return the forms by the given deadline.
Winners who wish to stop and take their prizes may discard
the signature forms.
Winners will receive either their prize check or their higher
round puzzle(s) with the next month's Round 1 puzzle.
If there is an odd number of players for a given higher round, one player
will be held over to a later month.

David Smallberg had the 1208-point top-scoring solution
in Round 1.

The cutoff for winners was at 1173.
Winning Round 1 prizes of $18 each are
1208 David Smallberg
1203 Robert Thrift
1173 Beverley Bramich

return the signature slips to risk their prizes and continue
to the next round to compete for larger prizes.
This is the only way to reach the higher rounds.
