ROUND 1 RESULTS - March 2006

       Thank you for playing in the Contest Center's Tournament of Riches. There were 44 competing entries for the March 2006 Round 1 puzzle. This makes 7 complete groups of 6 players. These 7 winners will receive $35 each, or they may choose to continue to Round 2 and try for $175. There is also one partial group with 2 players. The winner of that group will receive $15.

       Total prize money won this month is $265. Total winnings paid in the Tournament of Riches is now $59,973.

       All winners will receive forms asking if they wish to continue to the next round. The forms are enclosed with each monthly mailing. Winners who wish to risk their prizes and continue to the following round must sign and return the forms by the given deadline. Winners who wish to stop and take their prizes may discard the signature forms. Winners will receive either their prize check or their higher round puzzle(s) with the next month's Round 1 puzzle. If there is an odd number of players for a given higher round, one player will be held over to a later month.

       Roger Snead had the 225-point top Round 1 solution shown below. Since there were 8 groups, you did not need the top score to win. In fact, you could score 10 points lower and still win. The cutoff was at 215 points with 34 on the top row.
