ROUND 1 RESULTS - December 2005

       Congratulations to Donna Fritschka who has reached $1000 in winnings. She is the 26th player to reach this goal. She is no longer eligible to play Round 1, so all other players will move 1 place higher.

       Thank you for playing in the Contest Center's Tournament of Riches. There were 47 competing entries for the December 2005 Round 1 puzzle. This makes 7 complete groups of 6 players. These 7 winners will receive $35 each, or they may choose to continue to Round 2 and try for $175. There is also one partial group with 5 players. The winner of that group will receive $30.

       Total prize money won this month is $275. Total winnings paid in the Tournament of Riches is now $58,978.

       All winners will receive forms asking if they wish to continue to the next round. The forms are enclosed with each monthly mailing. Winners who wish to risk their prizes and continue to the following round must sign and return the forms by the given deadline. Winners who wish to stop and take their prizes may discard the signature forms. Winners will receive either their prize check or their higher round puzzle(s) with the next month's Round 1 puzzle. If the number of players for a given higher round is not an even multiple of 6, then some players will be held over to a later month.

       Donna Fritschka had the 220-point top Round 1 solution shown below. Since there were 8 groups, you did not need the top score to win. In fact, you could score 6 points lower and still win. The cutoff was at 214 points with 37 on the top row.
