ROUND 1 RESULTS - July 2005

       Congratulations to Betty Battaglia who has reached $1000 in winnings. She is the 24th player to reach this goal. She is no longer eligible to play Round 1, so all other players will move 1 place higher.

       Thank you for playing in the Contest Center's Tournament of Riches. There were 53 competing entries for the July 2005 Round 1 puzzle. This makes 8 complete groups of 6 players. These 8 winners will receive $35 each, or they may choose to continue to Round 2 and try for $175. There is also one partial group with 5 players. The winner of that group will receive $30.

       Total prize money won this month is $310. Total winnings paid in the Tournament of Riches is now $57,752.

       Joel Prescott had the 227-point top Round 1 solution shown below. Since there were 9 groups, you did not need the top score to win. In fact, you could score 6 points lower and still win. The cutoff was at 221 points with 36 on the top row.
