ROUND 1 RESULTS - August 2004

       Thank you for playing in the Contest Center's Tournament of Riches. There were 73 competing entries for the August 2004 Round 1 puzzle. This makes 12 complete groups of 6 players. These 12 winners will receive $35 each, or they may choose to continue to Round 2 and try for $175. There is also one partial group with 1 player. The winner of that group will receive $10.

       Total prize money won this month is $605. Total winnings paid in the Tournament of Riches is now $53,270.

       Roger Snead, one of our orginal contestants from 1980, had the 234-point top Round 1 solution shown below. Since there were 13 groups, you did not need the top score to win. In fact, you could score 5 points lower and still win. The cutoff was at 229 points. with 39 on the top row.
