ROUND 1 RESULTS - May 2004


       Congratulations to Gary DeMarco who has reached $1000 in winnings. He is the 21st player to reach this goal. He is no longer eligible to play Round 1, so all other players will move up 1 place more.

       Thank you for playing in the Contest Center's Tournament of Riches. There were 71 competing entries for the May 2004 Round 1 puzzle. This makes 11 complete groups of 6 players. These 11 winners will receive $35 each, or they may choose to continue to Round 2 and try for $175. There is also one partial group with 5 players. The winner of that group will receive $30.

       There were 6 entries in Round 2, making 1 group of players. The winner will receive $175, or may choose to go to Round 3 to try for $1,000.

       Total prize money won this month is $590. Total winnings paid in the Tournament of Riches is now $52,090.

       Kathleen Conaway had the 218-point top Round 1 solution shown below. Since there were 12 groups, you did not need the top score to win. In fact, you could score 6 points lower and still win. The cutoff was at 212 points with 38 on the top row.
