ROUND 1 RESULTS - October 2002


       Thank you for playing in the Contest Center's Tournament of Riches. There were 83 competing entries for the October 2002 Round 1 puzzle. This makes 13 complete groups of 6 players. These 13 winners will receive $35 each, or they may choose to continue to Round 2 and try for $175. There is also one partial group with 5 players. The winner of that group will receive $30.

       The total prize money for Round 1 is $485 this month. Total winnings paid in the Tournament of Riches is now $44,355.

       David Smallberg and Robert Thrift both had the top-scoring solution shown below. Since there were 14 groups, you did not need a top score to win. In fact, you could score 10 points lower and still win. The cutoff was at 225 points with 38 on the top row.
