ROUND 1 RESULTS - August 2002

       Congratulations to Earl W. Long who has reached $1000 in winnings. He is the 14th player to reach this goal. He is no longer eligible to play Round 1, so all other players will move up another place.

       Thank you for playing in the Contest Center's Tournament of Riches. There were 84 competing entries for the August 2002 Round 1 puzzle. This makes 14 complete groups of 6 players. These 14 winners will receive $35 each, or they may choose to continue to Round 2 and try for $175. Total prize money for Round 1 is $490 this month.

       Robert Thrift had the top-scoring solution shown below. Since there were 14 groups, you did not need a top score to win. In fact, you could score 12 points lower and still win. The cutoff was at 227 points with 38 on the top row and 35 on the second row.
