Thank you for playing in the Contest Center's Tournament of Riches. There were 98 competing entries for the March 2002 Round 1 puzzle. This makes 16 complete groups of 6 players. These 16 winners will receive $35 each, or they may choose to continue to Round 2 and try for $175. There is also one partial group with 2 players. The winner of that group will receive $15. Total prize money for Round 1 is $575 this month.
Grace Byrne had the top-scoring solution shown below. Since there were 17 groups, you did not need a top score to win. In fact, you could score 6 points lower and still win. The cutoff was at 223 points with 37 on the top row and 30 on the second row.
