Thank you for playing in the Contest Center's Tournament of Riches. There were 95 competing entries for the February 2002 Round 1 puzzle. This makes 15 complete groups of 6 players. These 15 winners will receive $35 each, or they may choose to continue to Round 2 and try for $175. There is also one partial group with 5 players. The winner of that group will receive $30. Total prize money for Round 1 is $555 this month.
Robert Lawrence had the top-scoring solution shown below. Since there were 16 groups, you did not need a top score to win. In fact, you could score 7 points lower and still win. The cutoff was at 226 points with 35 on the top row.
