There were 89 competing entries for the January 2002 Round 1 puzzle.

These 14 winners will receive $35 each, or they may choose to
continue to Round 2 and try for $175.
There is also one partial group with 5 players.
The winner of that group will receive $30.
Total prize money for Round 1 is $520 this month.
