       Thank you for playing in the Contest Center's Tournament of Riches. There were 112 competing entries for the June 2001 Round 1 puzzle. This makes 18 complete groups of 6 players. Each of these 18 winners will receive $35, or they may choose to continue to Round 2 and try for $175. There is also one partial group with 4 players. The winner of that group will receive $25. Total prize money for Round 1 is $655 this month.

       Robert S. Lawrence had the top-scoring solution shown below. Since there were 18 groups, you did not need a top score to win. In fact, you could score 9 points lower and still win. The cutoff was at 224 points with 35 on the top row and 34 on the second row.
