RESULTS - APRIL 2001


       Thank you for playing in the Contest Center's Tournament of Riches. Congratulations to M. Jean Gilbert who has become the fifth player to reach $1000 in winnings. Jean will now leave the contest, as the remaining players move up one place.

       There were 120 competing entries for the April 2001 Round 1 puzzle. This makes 20 complete groups of 6 players. Each of these 20 winners will receive $35, or they may choose to continue to Round 2 and try for $175. Total prize money for Round 1 is $700 this month.

       Joseph Nagel, David Simmonds and Joy Stype all had the top-scoring solution shown below. Since there were 20 groups, you did not need a top score to win. In fact, you could score 6 points lower and still win. The cutoff was at 226 points with 35 on the top row, 37 on the second row, and 36 on the third row.
