ROUND 1 RESULTS - May 2006

       Congratulations to Judith Kimbrough and Lawaine VanEyck who have received 10 prizes in One On One. They are the fifth and sixth players to reach 10 prizes. They are no longer eligible to play Round 1, so all other players will move up two places.

       Thank you for playing in the Contest Center's One On One puzzle contest. For May 2006 there were 22 Round 1 entries and 7 Round 2 entries.

       Half the players win on each puzzle, so there are 11 Round 1 winners and 4 Round 2 winners this month, for a total of $310. Total prize money paid in One On One is now $3,334.

       All winners will receive forms asking if they wish to continue to the next round. The forms are enclosed with each monthly mailing. Winners who wish to risk their prizes and continue to the following round must sign and return the forms by the given deadline. Winners who wish to stop and take their prizes may discard the signature forms. Winners will receive either their prize check or their higher round puzzle(s) with the next month's Round 1 puzzle. If there is an odd number of players for a given higher round, one player will be held over to a later month.

       Robert Lawrence had the top-scoring 211-point solution for the Round 1 puzzle shown below. Since there were 11 winners, you did not need a top score to win. In fact, you could score 12 points lower and still win. The cutoff for winners was at 199 points.
