ROUND 1 RESULTS - February 2006


       Congratulations to Elizabeth Polke who has received 10 prizes in One On One. She is the second player to reach 10 prizes. She is no longer eligible to play Round 1, so all other players will move up one place.

       Thank you for playing in the Contest Center's One On One puzzle contest. For February 2006 there were 27 Round 1 entries, 6 Round 2 entries and 2 Round 3 entries.

       Half the players win on each puzzle, so there are 13 Round 1 winners, 3 Round 2 winners and 1 Round 3 winner this month, for a total of $366. Total prize money paid in One On One is now $2,720.

       All winners will receive forms asking if they wish to continue to the next round. The forms are enclosed with each monthly mailing. Winners who wish to risk their prizes and continue to the following round must sign and return the forms by the given deadline. Winners who wish to stop and take their prizes may discard the signature forms. Winners will receive either their prize check or their higher round puzzle(s) with the next month's Round 1 puzzle. If there is an odd number of players for a given higher round, one player will be held over to a later month.

       Lee Morgenstern had the top-scoring 199-point solution for the Round 1 puzzle shown below. Since there were 13 winners, you did not need a top score to win. In fact, you could score 15 points lower and still win. The cutoff for winners was at 184 points with 31 on the top row.
