ROUND 1 RESULTS - October 2005


       Thank you for playing in the Contest Center's One On One puzzle contest. For October 2005 there were 32 Round 1 entries, 10 Round 2 entries and 3 Round 3 entries.

       Half the players win on each puzzle, so there are 16 Round 1 winners, 5 Round 2 winners and 2 Round 3 winners this month, for a total of $524. Total prize money paid in One On One is now $1,612.

       All winners will receive forms asking if they wish to continue to the next round. The forms are enclosed with each monthly mailing. Winners who wish to risk their prizes and continue to the following round must sign and return the forms by the given deadline. Winners who wish to stop and take their prizes may discard the signature forms. Winners will receive either their prize check or their higher round puzzle(s) with the next month's Round 1 puzzle. If there is an odd number of players for a given higher round, one player will be held over to a later month.

       Sheldon Degenhardt had the top-scoring 220-point solution for the Round 1 puzzle shown below. Since there were 17 winners, you did not need a top score to win. In fact, you could score 15 points lower and still win. The cutoff for winners was at 205 points.
