There are two special considerations for foreign contestants.
The first is the length of time for mail to travel to and from
the contestant. The second is the method of payment.
|
MAIL DELAYS

The time for mail to travel to and from The Contest Center
can be substantial and highly variable for some countries.
Mail to and from Canada and England usually takes only 4 to 6 days.
The longest delay we have seen is 9 days. However, mail to and from
Australia can take up to 18 days, and for Mexico we have seen delays
up to 4 months.

One way to avoid the mail delay to any country is to print the puzzles
directly from the Contest Center website.
You may use these links to view the puzzles:
Tournament of Riches
One On One
You may print the puzzles from these webpages, or you may
use the links at the bottoms of these pages to get special easy-to-print
black and white versions of each puzzle.

In most cases we will accept hand-drawn copies of the puzzles.
This is true of simple grids, and grids where the player circles
some of the letters. We will not accept hand-drawn copies of complex
diagrams such as number path puzzles.

We allow extra time for mail from foreign contestants to reach us.
In some cases it is possible to put a puzzle solution in an email, or
on a contestant's own website where we can view it. For security,
we will not download solutions sent as separate files. The solution
should be typed within the body of the email. If there is
sufficient demand, we will set up a method to enter by fax. However,
there could still be a delay when the payment is sent.

|

New contestants should tell us how long the puzzles take to reach
them, and give us the date when they mail their entries (in case the
postmark is not legible). That way, we can quickly determine if there is
a problem, and work out a solution.

PAYMENTS

The Contest Center accepts a variety of payment methods.
Entry fees and subscriptions may be paid by check or money order.
Foreign contestants should use checks or money orders in US dollar amounts,
payable through a US bank. The bank must be listed on the face of
the check or money order. International postal money orders in
US dollar amounts are also accepted.

Some foreign contestants may be able to have checking accounts at
US banks and pay by check. Although some foreign banks may allow
accounts in US dollars these checks will not be acceptable unless
they are payable through a US bank listed on the face of the check.

If none of these forms of payment are available, or if they are
too expensive, the Contest Center can set up an online account that
the player can see at any time. The player would fund the account with
an initial payment by any of the means listed above. After that,
subscriptions and entry fees may be drawn from the account, and
prize money would be credited to the account. When the contestant
requests it, we will issue a check for some or all of the money
in the account.

INDIA

Special arrangements can be made for players from INDIA and
certain other countries where it is difficult to obtain US dollars.
For players from these countries, the Contest Center will permit you
to begin playing without first making a deposit to your account.
You may charge up to $50 against your future winnings.

You must make this arrangement before you submit any contest entries.
