Fishing Rod
       Mathematical answer   He packed the fishing rod into a cubical box measuring 3 feet on a side. A 5-foot rod will fit into a 3-foot cube along the long diagonal.
       Real answer   Modern fishing rods are very flexible. He got a flat box measuring about 2½ feet on a side and about 4 inches deep. He bent the fishing rod into a U-shape to fit inside.
